Effect of shelling speed, moisture content and number of beaters on the cleaning and recovery efficiency of a mechanized centrifugal Melon shelling machine

A response surface methodology (RSM) has been utilized for investigating the effects of speed shelling, melon seed moisture content and number beaters a developed mechanized centrifugal shelling cleaning machine. The machine shells then cleans shelled from other impurities. experiment was based on central composite rotatable design (CCRD). results experiments revealed that highest efficiency 88.5% obtained combination 2300 rpm, 15% (w.b) 20 beaters, while least 25.11% an interaction between 959 20% 18 beaters. Numerical optimization carried out with goal maximizing optimum values 2200 12% 19 88.80%. result this study provided standard input parameters capable yielding high recovery efficiency.
